August 2012 Awards

Posted on Thu Sep 6th, 2012 @ 3:13pm by Captain Li Hawke

The nominations are in, and here are the awards for August 2012. It was a very eventful month, jam-packed with action, suspense, laughter and tears. Simply amazing work one and all.

Medal Of The Rose

To Peach and Scott, writers of MCPO Nick Marcinko and Lt.(jg) Nenita Quigley - for their incredibly interesting, often dysfunctional, crazy and uproarious rollercoaster of a relationship that finally came to a full understanding in 'A Rose By Any Other Name'.

Character Development Ribbons

Commander Sakkath - Sakkath's time since joining the Berkeley, and then moving over to SB900 has been nothing short of mind-bending by Vulcan standards. From helping to thwart a murder attempt on the woman who would become his mate, to later possession by the echoes of that same spirit, to adjusting to life with a Betazoid, he's overcome difficulties and tests to his logical state of being, adjusting and adapting to things that are far beyond a Vulcan's norm.

Lt. Commander Oralia Zeferino - Oz's life has been anything but calm of late. She has survived the loss of a loved one and the loss of a baby and in so doing has learned some very valuable lessons about life, love, and herself. Now, she has come full circle, surviving some emotional pain and growth that was often difficult, to lay claim to an emotional tie that began two years ago, got sidetracked, and is now truly her own.

Jasper Crayton - Jasper has taken a Promenade business owner and made him entertaining and enlightening, as well as often being an amusing commentary on the sometimes crazy life on a Starbase. Keep up the good work!

Superior Civilian Service Award

Cassidy Wilde - for successfully defending the life of Jackson Banning in dangerous and deathly circumstances, and in so doing unknowingly caused great difficulty for those conspiring to destroy ties between Archadia and SB900.

Post Of The Month

"Bugs, Phasers, and Trauma, oh my!" by Ensign Ian Bren, Lt.(jg) Eric Edwards, and Lt. Commander Oralia Zeferino.

For this one I will quote Dario (Patrick Leroy), who made the nomination:

The 'Screaming Ian' and Eric Edwards piece was really amusing :-) Those lavaflies held sway, even thwarted an assassination attempt... Can they be awarded too? :-P

We could not agree more, so an honorable mention goes to the lavaflies. Great post!

And Last but not Least...a very special award I created this month.

The 'Poking The Bear' Award

This is awarded to Vice Admiral Ricky Wegener for his part in 'Two Men And A Babe'. The ending bit where he sent Suresh a bottle of wine compliments of Jayne Cobb was a stroke of genius. It has already created many ripples in the storyline and will continue to do so for some time to come. On top of that, it was just downright entertaining.

Congratulations one and all! SB900 is blessed with a group of awesome writers, and we see that every day in the inventive stories that draw us in and keep us hooked.

Happy Simming!
