Post Of The Month
Be Careful What You Ask For - Suresh / T’Lucia (Peach / Andrew A.)
We were very impressed by Be Careful What You Ask For, a post that showcased a potential future child of Commander Sakkath and Captain Hawke coming to this time to “take care” of Suresh for all of the things he’d made her parents suffer for over the years. The best bit, I thought, was: “I am here, Suresh, because you have hounded the steps of my mother for far too long. I have seen the fear in her. I have seen the concern in my father. But they are Starfleet officers. Their careers are paramount, and while my mother has taken a life before it has always been in the field. Here, you are beyond their reach and beyond their morality. But you are not beyond mine. It is... only logical.” I loved that! No problems taking care of business for something she thought needed handling. I can see it now, kicking ass and taking names while keeping her calm Vulcan composure! The other sightings that have rippled around the station were one thing, but to me this one was a bit...more. T’Lucia wasn’t someone Suresh knew but the product of two people he knew, and she had purposely arrived to exact a bit of revenge. Does that make the T’Lucia sighting different than the others? I guess we’ll have to wait and see...
Drama Award
The Shrink Is Off His Meds -- LCDR Swift / LT Marcinko (Scott x 2)
This post deserves the drama award for several reasons but the main one comes from the undercurrent of the interaction between Robin and Nick. From the beginning Robin, in what seems rather unexpected, makes it clear that he isn’t going to take any crap from Nick. In short order, he manages to soothe the savage beast and take charge of the situation. As for Nick, he progresses from a man in a very awkward, uncomfortable place and begins to feel his way forward so that he can begin to work his way out of the hole where he now finds himself.
Character Development
Lt. Eric Edwards, Security Officer -- Written by Andrew A.
While going through our list of characters we zoned in on one character in particular who has come quite a long way in only nineteen--yes, 19!--posts. Andrew has done an amazing job fleshing out Lt. Edwards in that amount of time and has been able to make him into a very active character to boot. Just like all of the skilled writers in this group, Andrew has done excellent work bringing this character to life for us.
Medal of the Rose
Commander Zeferino & Jackson Banning V (Tracy & Peach)
This relationship has been going on for what seems like ages! Back since the Berkeley, I do believe. They weren’t an item then, but there was always that underlying current of electricity. Finally, they were able to come together and have been inseparable ever since. But they finally took the big step of commitment and tied the knot down on the planet’s surface with a long, beachfront honeymoon to boot. I don’t care who you are, but a wedding and a beachfront honeymoon calls for a medal if you ask me! Congrats to Tracy and Peach, and congrats to Oz and Jackson for finally getting married!
