We really enjoy awards time! It highlights just how great each of you are with your writing, how you've progressed yourselves and your characters and it shows us just how talented a group of individuals we have here at 900. You don't have to take time to tell these stories, but you do and it's a great thing for all of us to be able to see such talented writers collaborating like this, just for fun!
But enough of that, let's get to the awards!!
Award: Post Of The Month
The Order of Operations
Choosing Post of the Month is always difficult with this crew, since just about everything you all write is POM worthy. Sometimes a post will grab us with its excitement, sometimes it is the mystery or the intrigue, and sometimes it just grabs your attention and keeps it in the post’s own quiet way. This month’s winner was just such a post. In The Order Of Operations we see a brief window of time with Sakkath and Norval reflecting on the current state of things in the aftermath of some crew attacks that were certainly personal. It was a rare moment of emotion when we see Sakkath say, essentially, ‘we’re mad as hell and we’re not gonna take it anymore’. Congratulations!
Award: Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Lt. Eric Edwards
Eric shook his head and stifled a groan. "I stopped listening after 'time's fun when you're having flies,'" he admitted, cracking a grin. He motioned to the seat beside him. "Sit down, you can take us in. I'll play co-pilot for a while." -From "A Spider's Baby Shower" (By Oralia Zeferino)
Ignatius J. Reilly
A party? For me? Yes, please! Iggy threw her front legs up, into a position that normally would be threatening, but, in this case, looked like a good approximation of a human throwing his hands in the air. We can have gagh and silk-wrapped flies. Perhaps now Norval will share his worm? Eli almost choked on his laughter. “Uhh...Iggy? I don’t think a party is the place for that.” -From "A Spider's Baby Shower" (By Oralia Zeferino)
Lt. Norval Tigan
Well, it didn’t happen often, but Norval Tigan was speechless. Sakkath stood unperturbed by the silence, allowing it to linger far too long for Norval’s taste. … And it went on. … And on. “Yes, of course!” he blurted into the stillness. - from "The Order of Operations" (By Oralia Zeferino)
Major David Lorenz
Valhalla Control just told me that their ship never made it, and nobody is the least bit concerned that a platoon of Marines went missing? WHAT THE HELL KIND OF GOAT-ROPE OPERATION IS THIS?!" - from "Another Fine Mess" (By Oralia Zeferino)
Award: Cliffhanger Award
Ensign Reva Madhava
For the post: "Payback" For sure Ens Madhava's near future (talking about next few minutes) looks very bleak... Crossing my fingers to have an asteroid hit the hull hard enough to cause a distraction :-P (By Patrick Leroy)
Lieutenant Bryce Kendrick
For the post: "A Twist Of The Knife - Part One" Quite a mess around there. And as Six in the end stops breathing... So does the reader. ;-) (By Patrick Leroy)
Ensign Six of Ten
For the post: "A Twist Of The Knife - Part One" same reasons as for Bryce as it is a joint post. (By Patrick Leroy)
Award: Character Development
James Holbridge
I'm happy to see how Shawn is developing Holbridge lately. He's a great character who wound up getting the crap end of the stick recently with the death of his wife. Having to come to terms with that, the affair he thought she was having with Quentin (again) and being voted off the board of his own company at his wife's behest, is enough to potentially break anyone down. It's not always sunshine and unicorn farts for Holbridge and seeing him try to move on past the setbacks makes for interesting reading. (By Ricky Wegener)
Cadet Junior Grade Eli Ziyad
He has consistently posted good stuff involving Iggy and the lesser known elements of our missions. Very good character fleshing out. (By James Holbridge)
Award: Comedy Award
Ignatius Reilly
For the post "Names Matter" As always Iggs can quite stir the good humour in the regulated life of Fleet bipeds :-D (By Patrick Leroy)
Award: Drama Award
Ensign Reva Madhava
The series of posts regarding Reva's abduction have been a great read. It's not finished yet but the thought put into the writing, and the writing itself, have been very dramatic and I've enjoyed the series so far. It is my opinion that the interactions between Reva, Niro and some of the NPCs most definitely qualifies for a Drama Award. (By Ricky Wegener)

And that's all folks! Another great month of writing and I hope to see as many, or more, awards for September!
