| Personal History | Kyntaris was born to a human father and Trill mother. She is the younger child and has an older half sister who is a fully joined Trill. When her parents separated, her sister, Myala, remained with her mother while Kyntaris when to live with her father. Although her mother, Emeri, tries to keep close ties to her daughter, the distance between them is more than just physical. After learning that her half sister Myala was chosen to be joined with a symbiote, Kyntaris felt as if she would never measure up to her sister. For a time she was obsessed with becoming joined as well, but that obsession was broken when she learned that she did not have the correct physiology to become a host. Kyntaris sank into a depression and it was only after her father was transferred to SB900 on a work assignment that she took any serious interest in Starfleet Academy. Her father noticed her interest and encouraged her to apply for entrance. He had been worried about her depression and hoped that this would be a way for her to realize that being half human gave her strengths she didn't know that she had. |
