| Personal History | Jim Holbridge was born in Nova Scotia, Canada March 23rd, 2349. His father, Garrett, owned the Holbridge Mining Consortium and his mother was Chair of Xeno-Geology at Cochrane University South Dakota. Jim's childhood was spent on the family estate in London, sheltered from reality until his eleventh birthday when he was taught how to fly ore sleds for his father's company. Holbridge quickly mastered the art of flying and rose through the ranks of the company to become chief pilot before being accepted to the Marine Corps Academy on Mars. After four years, Jim advanced to Marine Flight Combat Training and graduated fifth in his class. The 214th Attack Squadron was Holbridge's first assignment and he quickly racked up an impressive seven kills as the tensions between the Federation and Dominion escalated. Holbridge proved himself to be a cunning aviator and daring flier, often taking chances that seemed suicidal. During the Dominion War, Holbridge was shot down and then taken prisoner. Despite his injuries and the apathy of his fellow prisoners, Jim and several other prisoners promptly escaped, stealing a Galor-class warship and making his way back to Federation space. After a brief convalescence, Holbridge returned to the front lines in the cockpit of a fighter, terrorizing enemy pilots and making his superiors wonder how he survived such insane odds, thus earning him a new call sign “Longshot”. The war with the Dominion ended and Jim was eager to pass on the sum total of his experiences to a new crop of pilots coming up through the ranks. Jim was selected by Admiral Ricky Wegener as a squadron commander and placed in charge of VMF-131, the Vampires. Sabotage and the loss of his back-seater compelled Jim to resign from the Fighter Corps, but Admiral Wegener did not want to lose Holbridge to civilian life and made him the Strategic Operations Officer. After the Strategic Operations Department was deactivated, Jim quietly accepted a position as the Satellite Academy's Chief Flight Instructor, along with "special missions" as assigned. In 2375, Jim was flying insertion for a covert op into Bajor, his brother Wyatt, was a member of the Intelligence ground team. After a successful insertion, Holbridge returned to the extraction LZ and waited for seventy-two hours for the team to return. Defying two recall orders, Jim attempted to locate the team but was rapidly driven off by a large force of Breen and Jem'Hadar ground forces. Holbridge was reassigned to Starbase 900 in the Delta Quadrant, but soon took a leave of absence and together with his friend, Dave Lorenz, embarked on an eighteen-month search for his brother in the Alpha and Gamma Quadrant. Holbridge was arrested in the Idran System and returned to the Alpha Quadrant where he was recruited into Starfleet Intelligence in exchange for knowledge of his brother's whereabouts. INTELLIGENCE CAREER HIGHLIGHTS CLASSIFIED BY ORDER OF ADMIRAL LUCIUS HAWKE After several successful engagements and missions, Jim Holbridge was transferred again to Starbase 900. Holbridge uncovered a conspiracy involving Commander Norvil Kieran holding his brother in a detention facility in order to force Holbridge to cooperate and be his informer. Embittered and disenchaanted with Starfleet, Holbridge resigned and started up his own private security company, basing himself and his familiy's mining intereests on the starbase with the permission of Admiral Wegener. SITE 6 INCIDENT-DETAILS CLASSIFIED BY ORDER OF ADMIRAL LUCIUS HAWKE With the decision by his father to liquidate Holbridge Mining's assets, Jim decided to design and build fighter craft and other starships for Starfleet and Allied forces, relying on his decades of flight experience. After the incident at Site 6, Holbridge Mining Consortium was purchased by the competition and Jim began his own starship/fighter manufacturing facility in the Delta Quadrant. After a series of personal tragedies Jim Holbridge was committed to the psyche ward of Piper Medical for treatment. Control of the shipyard and Holbridge's Industries passed to a pro tem President. Holbridge recovered from his tragedies and has become a steady, reliable CEO, managing his shipyard and other corporate assets with the same aggressive style he possesses. |
