Mission:
Breaking New Ground
Location: Starbase 900
Li closed her travel case, then immediately opened it again. Her hairbrush lay on the nightstand beside the bed and she lifted it, dropping it into the case. She considered the old book that lay there also, then added it to the pile. Satisfied, she closed up the case and sent a message to transport. Moments later, the case vanished in a shimmer of blue. All she had to do now was send one last message to Lazan.
It was brief, informing him of her departure and the means to contact her should it be necessary. She’d already sent out a general crew announcement regarding her trip and that would suffice. She didn’t expect to be gone more than a few days, even with the visit to her mother. A message from Dae popped up, containing one last bit of information on Kieran and Li sent it to the padd she’d included in her suitcase. With one more glance at her precious orchids that filled the quarters, and which Lucius had promised to see to, she left and code locked the doors behind her.
She reached the main docking bay and bypassed the line of locals waiting to board public transports. A transport crewmen approached and greeted her formally.
“Right this way Captain.”
“Thank you.” Li followed the crewman through the usual crowds milling about the deck. She spotted some familiar faces as they went and continued on her way. They passed on by the public transport areas and on to the private docking area that held the Captain’s yacht.
“The crew is already on board and ready to go,” the crewman informed Li. There hadn’t been any need for the escort, it was merely a formality and a show of respect.
“Thank you.” Li smiled as she stepped to the open hatch. “See you in a few days, keep the place together.”
“We will sir. Travel safely.” He turned and vanished back into the crowd and li entered the small ship.
The pilot greeted her and she moved on through after informing him she’d be in her quarters. The quarters she entered were very comfortable and before long, she was settled on the sofa, her padd in hand. She sent a message to Lorenz on the Ghost at Solaria Gateway Station with her expected arrival time, then opened the message from Dae. It was also gathered from a ‘friend’ and confirmed Lucius’ information, providing a few more details. As Li read, a smile grew on her face and finally she nodded.
This was going to be fun.
