Ray had finished up with Monique’s official statement and it had been sent to Chelsea to put the finishing touches on it. The sight of Admiral Azoulay’s arrival in the brig under heavy guard had crumbled the paralegal and she’d given Ray and Gilroy a full confession of being hired by Azoulay. So far, Ray’s morning was going swimmingly. He stepped away from the desk, his destination the admiral’s cell when Julisa appeared.
“Sorry to interrupt.” Ray stopped and grinned at her. “But I figured you deserved to have a go at her, considering what she did to you.”
"Yeah," she glanced behind her at her security officer. "Do I still need a guard? I sent one with Solis."
“I’ll keep an eye on her,” Ray assured the officer. “Let’s go. Gilroy had one of the docs come patch her up. They got in a couple of good blows. The other admirals that is.” Ray led her down the way and they stopped before Eria’s cell.
“I’m waiving all rights for having any discussions with you, or anyone else,” Eria hissed from behind the force field. “Leave me alone.”
"Waiving all rights?" Julisa grinned. "Really? I know there are a few people here who would be happy to use your own tactics on you, Eria."
Eria narrowed her eyes as Julisa and realized that the more she spoke the more she would be digging the hole she was now in. She sat on the bunk, curled her knees to her chest and put her head down.
“I must inform you that your little traitor in my department sang like a canary, admiral.” He smiled to Julisa. “Tell her what else she’s won, lieutenant.”
"What else? Oh, yes, she's won a starring role in a very gruesome video. It also stars a Cardassian and one of Starfleet's own, Nicolao," Julisa played along. "That and the set of credentials we found linking you to a Betazoid who tried to hurt me... I'd say you're going to have a nice long stay in a Federation Penitentiary. Twenty, thirty years?"
Eria sat on the bench. A cold sensation ran through her as the realization that everything that could have gone wrong had done so. At the thought of serving time, even in a Federation prison, she shivered visibly. But still, there was nothing more for her to say. She knew that they had enough on her to make her go away for a very long time and there was no getting out of it now.
"Why? That's all I what to know. What could possibly be worth this?" Julisa didn't understand the criminal urge some people had.
Ray watched Eria intently as Julisa asked the question they all wanted to ask. As he looked at her, the video feed ran through his mind once more, followed by an image of Kai as she’d looked in sickbay and the look on NIco’s face when he’d run from the room. His hand tightened around his coffee mug as he waited.
“It’s all inconsequential now,” Eria mumbled, her head still resting on her knees. “Leave me alone.”
Ray shook his head. “So be it.” He looked back to Julisa. “I’ve left the missives from Starfleet Command for you. Chelsea has Monique’s confession. Let’s get this wrapped up and get this garbage out of here.” Ray’s tone was bitter. “And out of my sight.”
"Will do," she agreed. "Solis was called to sickbay to help with Admiral Wegener. I'll head to the office to work with Chelsea and Siri."
“Good enough. I need to get up to Sickbay and then on to see Admirals Hawke and Cruzado. Nighty night….oh that reminds me, Eria.” Ray looked back at her briefly. “You stand relieved.”
She looked up briefly from behind her knees, a look of disgust on her face. From the outside of the cell it would appear as if the look were for Ray. Inside the cell, however, she knew the look was solely for her own failure and bleak future.
