Turning Myself Off

Mission: Further Challenges
Location: Valhalla Colony

With a shimmer that looked like it might have come out of the transporter beam, which could have made sense considering the at least somewhat of a similarity between transporters and holo-emitters, The Professor appeared in the colonial science laboratory. He had been very grateful for the fact that he was now able to switch his own program on and off. He even had the ability to change his own outfits with a few access grants to a subroutine.

This was a function that he figured was going to end up as very useful, seeing as he could switch out science blue for command red if the need should ever arise. Shaking his head to shove any dreams of running the colony his way out of it, The Professor then started the recording for his own personal log.

"Science Officer's Log, Supplemental!"

Merely his words were going to be enough. He could of course control the computer system merely by thinking about it, since he was a piece of software that lived inside of it.

"Well, it looks like I've abandoned and left to my own devices, but considering that I can generally successfully turn my own program on and off now without too much difficulty I shouldn't complain too much. This is much easier than the way that I used to run around here. I had to worry about running all night with nothing to do. Still, I've been able to find even more stuff to do with less time anyway."

Pausing a moment, perhaps to emulate what it would be like if he were an organic being who had to collect his thoughts, The Professor soon continued after emulating collected thoughts.

"There have been so many experiments to conduct now that no one is pestering me or saying ridiculous things like 'Oh Professor you can't do that or else you'll blow up the laboratory.' Do you know how many times I've heard that? Must be hundreds, right...and do you know how many times I've blown up the laboratory?"

Once again he paused, but this time it wasn't an emulation of anything at all but instead a genuine pause. It seemed that he might very well have been thinking about a few things that happened in the laboratory that his subroutines told him weren't acceptable.

"Only two or three, so that's not too shabby if we're only accounting for percentage points!"
