Chance Interruption

Mission:
In Our Time of Need
Location: Connor/Oralia Quarters
Timeline: After 'Eli's Chance' Before 'Intelligence Matters'
((OOC: This is a slight backpost (sorry!) and occurs the morning after 'Eli's Chance' but before 'Intelligence Matters' and the set of logs dealing with Norval's lilies.))
It was the start of a rare day: a day when Connor didn't have duty and neither did Oralia. The pair had used their previous night well - having attended the Cadets' formal dinner - and were sleeping in, or attempting to, at least. The buzzer on the door kept sounding; whomever was out there was being persistent. Oralia groaned, moving slowly, and nudged Connor. "Did you order delivery for breakfast? 'Cause if you did, I might have to kill you," she grumbled, even as she kissed his bare chest.
"If I did, I did it in my sleep", he mumbled back, locking his arms around her. "Just ignore them, 'n' they'll go away..."
"Mmm..., I don't know, Connor," she lightly bit him, just put her teeth on his skin really, "...I might need some distraction from that racket." As she spoke, the door chime pealed again.
Connor reacted immediately, turning over, his strong arms pulling her under him, "I can give you a distraction. You're not going anywhere... not this time."
She chuckled and kissed him, "I'll happily stay here."
As Oralia and Connor distracted each other, the door chime went silent. Moments later, though, the door hesitantly opened and Chance Conradi slipped through. "Ozzle! C'mon, I know you're home!" He called and walked into his sister's bedroom without any other warning.
"Chance!"
"Oh!" Chance turned around (but not before getting a good gander at Connor's backside) and walked right back out of her bedroom. "Hey, it's past time to get up and be dressed!" He yelled back at the entwined couple.
Connor, who rarely swore, had quickly moved over to the edge of the bed pulling a sheet around him, pressing a hand down between his legs. "Please get him the fuck out of here...before I do", he said low, barely restraining himself.
"Okay, okay, babe," Oralia whispered and quickly slid out of bed, drew a silk robe around her shoulders and walked out to the living room, still tying the robe closed. "Chance?" She glared at her little brother. "First, how did you get in? Second, what is so wrong that you'd break in?"
"Well, first," he mocked her, "Do you think that maybe, just maybe you should have told me that Enarans are telepaths?"
"What?" Confused, Oz stared at him. "What the hell are you going on about?" She shook her head and wagged a hand at him, "Never mind. Tell me how you just bypassed security and I'll skip having Security toss you in the Brig. This time."
Chance sighed and held up a small box. It explained everything, except how he'd gotten it; it was a manual override, typically used in emergencies or when the power went out. Oralia put a hand to her forehead and swore quietly. "Please don't make me be Mom, Chance. Seriously, behave. And hand that over."
"Fine," he dropped the box in her hand. "Oz, have you ever...," he glanced at the bedroom and lowered his voice, "...had a relationship with an alien?"
This is what her brother was interrupting her sex life for? To ask about his own? Oz glared at him before going over and sitting next to him. "Well... I could make the argument that men are pretty alien... does that count?"
It was Chance's turn to glare at her. "Is this about your fellow Cadet, Eli?" She paused and sighed. "Chance, don't... he's trouble. He's here because he rejected his homeworld's philosophies and such. I'm not saying that's a bad thing to do, but it does make him a target. He's one of my special people - one of those whom I keep an eye on, just in case."
Chance gave her an interested look. "Real trouble, not my kind of trouble?"
Serious now, she nodded, "Right. Real problems, Chance." Far as Oralia knew, her little brother hadn't ever faced real trouble before - he'd only created mayhem for himself and her parents by doing typical teenaged-stupid stuff.
"What about Cadet Ashley MacGyver?"
"What about her?" The Security Chief rubbed her forehead and knew that, if she let him, he'd quiz her about everyone in his class. "Look, I'm not familiar with the name. If you want to bed her, go do it and then talk to...," she realized who the head doctor in Sickbay was and laughed, "...oh, talk to Connor in Sickbay about what ailment you might have picked up."
"Oz!"
"What!" Her voice took on a tinge of whining. "You're the one who just rousted me from my bed! Get out!"
"All right," Chance laughed, realizing that he had walked in at a rather inopportune moment. "By the way," he bobbed his head towards her room, "he's got a nice ass."
"OUT!" She pointed at the door and, as soon as he was gone, went back to the bedroom.
The bathroom door was open, and Connor stood pressing his hands on the edge of the sink. He had felt angry at the intrusion and that in itself disturbed him. He leaned over, turning on the water and placing his hands together began splashing his face.
"Hey," Oz slipped up behind him and kissed his bare back. "Come back to bed with me, please?"
He looked at her image in the mirror, first placing a hand over one of hers, and then grabbing a towel to pat dry his face. "I think it's best if I go workout at the gym", he said quietly.
Blinking, Oz slowly nodded her head. "Oh... all right... well, I'm going back to bed, catch up on some of the sleep I've been missing." She turned and sashayed out of her robe then slid between the sheets. Laying back on her pillows, she smiled at him. "You're sure about the gym?"
Connor had followed her in, "I was going to ask you to come with me...", he said quietly, looking down at her, lifting the covers and climbing into the bed. "I'm not rejecting you, I just felt the need to... I don't know..", he laid on his back and stared at the ceiling, "I don't know how to explain it to you."
"To what? Work out some stress? Get away from these quarters? I know Iggy can be creepy, but, c'mon, Connor, she's not that bad." Oralia tried to joke with him and turned on her side to smile at him and to put a hand on his chest.
"No", he looked over at her, placing a hand over hers, forcing a smile back, "She's not that bad." Locking eyes with hers, he studied her, wondering why she put up with his constant shifting moods, "I love you."
Moving to kiss him, she chuckled and said, "I know." The kiss she laid on him would have left no doubt how she felt, if Connor weren't the type to always doubt things. "Today's our day off, luv, could we spend it together?"
He stared at her for a moment, wrestling with himself, but he lost, "You can't say it." he swallowed. "Why?"
She hid her reaction by kissing his neck. Had he caught her roll of the eyes or her thought about how tiresome he could be, she was certain he'd be out the door in thirty seconds or less. It wasn't that she didn't feel love for him but.... he was right: she didn't want to say it. The few - actually only two - men she'd said it to before had soon after left her. That had taught her not to say those three words. "Can't I just show you?" She'd let him move in with her; wasn't that enough? Of course, what she was failing to recognize was that she sometimes failed to show her love.
Running a hand over his jaw, he slid back out of the bed, "I need to be alone..." and headed back to the bathroom.
With a frustrated sigh, Oralia flopped onto her back on the bed and stared at the ceiling. Why was she drawn to the high maintenance Connor? She knew her reasons; she just wished he didn't need it expressed quite so... expressly. Hearing the shower start up and then the change in pitch as Connor entered it, she bounced a fist against the mattress and chased her thoughts around.
A moment later, she slid into the shower with Connor, pushed him against the wall and kissed him. "Connor," she whispered against his lips, "I'm in love with you and it terrifies me." She met his eyes then ducked her head against his chest.
Relief washed over him as warm water poured down over both of them. Breathing heavy, Connor wrapped his hands into her hair, admitting, "I'm terrified too, Oralia."
"Good. We can hide from whatever terrifies us together." She looked up and smiled at him, ready to let the conversation drain away without touching on what had them scared.
Like always, her body curving into his, he felt intoxicated and looked down at her with heavy lidded eyes, "You said yourself not long ago that we don't yarn, not near enough", his voice husky, his accent accentuated, and he leaned into her, "Right now I just want to taste you."
"When I said we weren't talking enough, I was under the influence of a rather evil suppressant." His words had had an immediate effect upon her; a bloom of heat and desire swept up her skin. "We'll get the bed wet," she said, as if it mattered.
Breathing heavy, his hands moved downwards, caressing her skin as they inched toward her thighs. She always felt so soft and smooth. "We don't need the bed..."
"I was hoping you'd say that...."
