Kh'ali: Progress! Maybe not...

Mission:
In Our Time of Need
Location: Corridor Outside Main Security
Patrick walked round the corner to security and found the Lieutenant Commander standing with two guards and a medical officer walking away. He could smell the office from here, the smell having drifted with doors opening and closing. Walking up to her he raised an eyebrow, "I'm not going to ask. I was just talking with Nenita in intelligence. We think we have a way to speed up the search."
Turning to face the Marine Captain, Oralia folded her arms in front of her and cast an appraising look over the man. A new uniform; new pips... "Working with Intel now, I see," she tried to smile but didn't quite succeed. The comment was a way to buy time as she shifted gears again and realized Patrick meant the search for Kh'ali. "Can you explain as we walk or do you need audio-visual displays?"
Patrick nodded and raised up a padd which had everything on it and handed it to her. "Everything is on that and I think time would be best spent walking. Those two can come most of the way but unless they can breath in space we will leave them on the hanger floor," Smith said motioning towards to two security guards. "The padd has everything you need to know about the capabilities of the Advanced Sensor pack equipped to the Peregrine including how to operate it."
Mentally slow thanks to the system shocks she'd had in the past twelve hours, Oralia startled and stopped to look at Patrick. "Operate it? Are you telling me to operate some Marine toy?"
"Not a Marine toy. My toy. Don't worry I'll be doing the flying. You just have to use the scanners." He could tell she wasn't quite functioning right now and no wonder after the stress she'd undoubtedly been under. He could empathize having just been under the same with the death of one of his Marines. "This is the fastest way to search the outer areas of the ship. A lot faster than your security teams. If you want I can get one of the electronic tech pilots to fly shotgun if you need a rest?"
"Ah, good, 'cause I'm sure you might know what happened to the last small craft I piloted," she joked, flashing the smile that hadn't quite been there a moment ago. "I'd rather that or have one of my Security jay-gees go with you, Captain Smith," Oralia replied, realizing that he'd just given her a gift. She scanned the PADD's information and asked, "So... the Advanced Sensor pack, you'll use it to scan for chronitons from the outside?" She wasn't really asking him a question, but she paused as if to give him a chance to answer.
"I'll take one of the marine techs then. They should in theory have used one before," he said half wondering if they had ever seen one. "And yea. That's the theory. It's a lot faster to fly around this base than it is to walk it and that package has been used for all kinds of surveillance and what not. It'll do life sign scans as well as chronitons but I think we'd have found her already if that was any use."
"Yeah...," she agreed, clearly thinking of something else. "If you had a combative, obstinate Klingon and needed to stash her for a while on a 'base this big, where would you put her, Patrick? Assuming you can't use the Brig."
"Well if you wanted to hide anyone it'd be someplace out of the way," he thought for a moment before continuing. "But having put it like that I'd want somewhere that could be sealed from the outside and not opened from the inside. But as the brig is out of order I'm not sure where that would leave."
"Hmm...," Oz thought a moment longer then said, "I hope she's not closed in some cargo bin. I doubt any of those would hold enough air for someone to last this long." It was a morbid thought. "Let's hope either the chroniton or a bio signs scan turn up something." She started to turn away to speak to one of her minions, but then turned back and simply said, "An escape pod. Assuming the Klingon is incapacitated in some way... they can be opened from inside, but it's certainly a spot where no one would stumble across her. Anyway...." Now she motioned to one of the two crewmen standing there. "Crewman Weil here will make sure that you get all the cooperation from Security you need, Captain Smith. If you need me, I'll be available by comm."
"I'll keep you posted Ma'am. And make sure we don't do something stupid like loosing your escorts. The last thing we need is for the head of Security to vanish." Smith turned and left, leaving her with her own thoughts, the crewman following in his wake. Of course, he thought to himself. The escape pods would be a perfect place to hide someone. It was a good job for Smith that he wouldn't be walking... and probably for the security guys with their tricorders.
"I'll check in with you, Captain, in an hour or so," Oz called after him then glanced at her escort and said, "Home, Jeeves."
