Location: Borg Cube Near Planet 6584
Timeline: Concurrent with Taking On The Cube

* Borg Cube *

The transport has arrived.

Deep in the center of the cube the Queen smiled. "Excellent. What of the Starfleet ship?"

Warp engines disabled. Warp core breach is imminent.

"Very good," she answered. She sensed the weapons array taking aim and closed her eyes. A moment later, it powered down. "Leave them to lick their wounds and limp home to admit their failure. We have what we want." Meaning she had what she wanted.

And the body?

"Bring him to me immediately," she ordered. With nothing more than her thought, the cube turned and vanished through a transwarp conduit, leaving the Montezuma behind.

Two drones entered the Queen's room and stood waiting. A few minutes later, two more entered and laid the body of Sakkath on a table off to one side. The Queen approached and, after looking him over, reached out to touch his cheek. It had been a bold move but the instruction to the newly assimilated Marine had been carried out exactly as ordered.

"They know he is dead?"

Yes, came the echo of the communal thoughts.

"He is perfect. Revive him," she ordered. "Then leave the rest to me."
