A Pensive Cat

Mission: Further Challenges
Location: N'Riss' Quarters

Taking a few moments to deliberately move closer to the wall-mounted recessed computer console that was present in his room, N'Riss had seemingly just finished enjoying a good scratching against the post that he had taken with him. Some people might have found it rather funny that the feline did this, but for members of his species it really was something of a necessity.

Should he have not kept up with this type of regimen, eventually his claws would have actually gotten uncomfortably long. If he retracted them at that point, then he was liable to cut himself.

Irrespective of this fact he soon moved back over toward the terminal that he was going to use to record his log. "Computer, open file, resume log recording. Lieutenant Commander's Log, Supplemental."

Having heard the telltale sound of the computer's chime telling him that it was working, and therefore recording the rest of what he had spoken.

Predictably, he started the rest of what he was saying with a prominent purr.

"Purrrsumably I am putting my own goals on the backburner at this moment. While I had always dreamed of completing the Starfleet course of study that I had originally put my mind to, there are far more important things at stake here. I will not lie and say that it causes me no distress, because it honestly does. Ironically someone here even thought that the academic letters after my name were more of an indication of a portion of my moniker than a title, murr!"

"Yet, even after all of this, I am only too happy in one sense to give up everything in a sacrifice for the greater good. Merrow, currrrtainly I have no wish to sound selfish. If I had to lay down my life for the good of my shipmates, then I would at any moment. Right now if anything I figure I must be dealing with a bit of survivor's guilt considering what happened before."

"Nevertheless, merrowl, I guess I should just keep going forwards. More than anything, I cannot allow these strong emotions to interfere with my duties. Actually, I never really remember a time when I had any emotion that caused me to do that, but I will keep an eye out to make sure that they do not."

Flicking his tail for a moment or two, the Caitian officer gestured with his paw to shut the computer recording system off.
