Jim Holbridge sat in his favorite lounge chair, his eye looking down at the carpeted floor. The memories of the attack were still fresh in his mind; and despite the capture of his assailant, he felt no better or safer. His primary team was now his team of body guards on the station and he rarely left the family residence. Most of his ship design work he did from his office/study, working long hours and sharply discouraging any interruptions.

All of this was about to change. Major Dave Lorenz walked past the outer corridor NGSC security team and walked into the house, waving at Tricia to stay put. He found the study entrance and barged in. "Hiya!"

"Don't you know how to knock?" Jim asked coldly.

"Yup, but I don't think you would have taken my call so i came in." Dave smiled dangerously. "Why are you hiding here?"

"I have a lot of work to do and I don't feel like going to the office or the shipyard. I have a new virtual mode that allows me to inspect things from here...."

Dave cut him off. "Save me the bullshit, Jim! You have been in this house moping and grouching at your wife and kids for days. You didn't even notice that your son put off his Academy trip until you healed and the way you have talked to your wife and daughter sickens me!"

"Dave, I...."

"You what? Failed? No, you got mugged by a woman and its making you mad! Big hotshot security man cant even protect himself from a widdle Cardassian hooker-slash-killer! Cry me a fucking river!" Dave shouted, seeing Jim's right fist clench.

"I think you better leave, major," Jim said dangerously.

"Make me, gimp!" Lorenz shouted.

Holbridge rose to his feet and swung a poorly-aimed cane swipe at David's head, which Lorenz brushed away.

"Wooooo, nice try, Hopalong!" Lorenz goaded.

Jim dropped the cane and charged David, knocking him into a wall and then stopping suddenly. "No, no more!"

"Oh look, Mommy, the cyclops monster is a female one, the males attack!!!" Lorenz said in a mimicking voice.

Jim finally roared and swung a roundhouse that caught David on his nose, feeling the bone crunch as his fist connected. "Shut your goddamned mouth!"

"Bout fucking time!" Lorenz said as he rose to his feet. He quickly reset his nose with a gruesome crunching sound. Lorenz ducked another nose-breaker and pinned his friend to the floor after tripping him. "It's okay to be mad, Jimmy! I would be, and I fucking caught her! I'm proud of you for surviving, but you ar estuck in survival mode! Get outta this damned office and live, man!"

Jim nodded and smiled. "If you get your green ass off me! I am just afraid that my family may be caught up in this."

"Said the guy with a private army at his disposal! What a dork!" Dave smiled pulling Jim off the floor. "Time to go reconnect, dude!"

Jim walked to the door sans the cane, and was greeted with cries of "Daddy!" and "Honey!", followed by a family hug.

Lorenz smiled and left the office, grinning at Tricia on the way out. Out in the corridor, Quentin Harrison looked tense. "How many?"

"You owe me three, he went down before i hit 5!"

"Sheit!"
