Mission: Further Challenges
Location: Krenim Space

* EFS Kohana *

When N’riss entered the bridge, Vic caught him up quickly on the situation as it then stood. “We just received word that Leela and some of their crew are transporting over.”

Considering what was going on, most people would have been rather dumbfounded, though admittedly the response to such a thing that came out of N'Riss was rather more demure. Still, his actions of opening his eyes wide and caterwauling were exceptionally shocking by quiet Caitian standards. "Do you want me here or back in the transporter room then?"

“Tractor beam initiated,” Seren informed N’Riss. “We are stalled. I can’t break free yet.”

"Merrrow, I could theoretically phase us out of here if you trust me to attempt such a maneuver." N'Riss had certainly trusted himself.

Seren had closed the channel and he and Vic turned to N’Riss.

“How?” Vic asked. “How long would it take?”

"In theory if we can calculate the frequency of their tractor beam's energy pulse, then I could modulate our shields to match it and allow us to pass through. I am unsure if it would work." N'Riss murrled a bit, "Though I suppose it is risky, it would not take long."

“We need Leela back, but it might be a good idea once they are back. I don’t know why they are coming to this ship but a little distraction would give us time.” Vic grumbled. “But first I’d like to know why they are coming over here.”

"In the meantime I can at least figure out how to do it. I would prefer not to see us trapped here without any sort of an escape." N'Riss purred again and relieved the individual who had been seated at the conn in his stead.

“I think Marie has a new project,” Seren stated. “Six’s problems were obviously an early symptom of where we are. Now, we need to get back.” He turned to face N’Riss. “I’ll see what I can pick out of their heads but Niro won’t be easy.”

"Of course I would appreciate any updates, but feel free to leave me in the dark if it saves time, murr." It was obvious that N'Riss was being genuine and sincere rather than sarcastic in that respect. Soon enough his paws were again moving over the touchscreens in front of him.

Seren nodded. “I can pass anything I get along silently.” He tapped the side of his head. “I am curious about why they wanted to see Leela, though. Should I update Marie?”

While he wasn't necessarily used to making executive decisions considering that he was largely a flight officer, N'Riss was doing his best to slide straight into the role. "I think that it would be best if you had."

Seren opened a channel to Marie to inform her of recent developments. While he was talking, the hum of a transport beam could be heard and Leela, Niro, Suresh, and Riley appeared on the bridge. “They’re here,” he informed her. “Seren out.”

Niro smiled as he looked over the bridge, his gaze settling on those assembled. “Well, hello. Isn’t this special.” Beside him, Suresh uttered a curse and Niro reached out, resting his hand against Suresh’s chest to hold him in place. Finally, Niro addressed N’Riss. “Who are you?”

Suppressing the urge to give another caterwaul, which was pretty much hardwired into his feline DNA, N'Riss stood up and actually showed his fangs for once. That was rare indeed. "Who am I? The individual who has the right to shove you off this bridge; that is who I am.".

Seren glanced to N’Riss. Niro’s blocking all of them. Even Leela it seems, at least her ability to speak. I am still monitoring.

A slight twitch of his whiskers was the entire acknowledgement that N'Riss had offered, but he figured that it would have been enough yet not too much in that it wouldn't alert anyone to the fact that information had been passed.

Niro laughed out loud. “Maybe but it seems to me that you all are in a tight spot. Shoving off the only people who might be of some help wouldn’t be wise.” He stopped, tilting his head as if listening. “You’re right Riley, the bridge is the same, more or less. With the addition of some tell-tale tech. I see your version of Six has infected the ship.”

Vic spoke, but his tone was sharp. “We prefer to think of it as an improvement over the original design.”

“I bet.” Niro turned his attention to Reva now. “And I’ll bet you are certainly enjoying it.”

Reva, whose gaze had settled on this universe’s Riley, blinked, startled, and re-focused on Niro. A blaze of rage ran through her but she stifled it. “Perhaps I am, ass,” she growled. “Give me one good reason why we shouldn’t transport you out into space.”

Riley’s gaze was riveted on Reva but he shot a sideways glance at Niro.

“According to Riley, we’re the only ones who can help you get home. He’s had to deal with this before so I’d suggest playing nice.” Niro paused and a sly smile passed over his face. “We’ll talk about that later Riley.”

“I’ve had to deal with this as well...,” Reva replied. Granted, she’d dealt with it with Riley by her side. She made eye contact with Riley and asked, “Do you let him do all your talking? In my world, you’d rather have cut his throat.”

He’s a mouthpiece. Riley spoke directly in Reva’s thoughts. Things are different here, which I suspect you have gathered, given what I can see of your Riley in your thoughts.

Apparently, since you’re looking at me with no small amount of distaste. Who peed in your cereal? Reva eyed him before glancing at Niro. “Afraid to let your minions speak for themselves?”

“It’s his choice.” Niro shrugged. “He’s had a hard time from Reva….his Reva.”

You know what to do. If you all want to get home, I’ll work with you but don’t expect us to turn into pals. We’ll do what has to be done and that’s it. Riley’s gaze lingered on Reva as his words rose in her mind. Where is Six?

In Sickbay, she glanced at Suresh by his side, What’s the story there?

He wants to kill Vic...this one just happens to be handy. In our world? Suresh lost that fight and he’s not allowed anywhere near her. He wants to see this one.

We can arrange that, Reva told him. She glanced at Seren, who’d come up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder.

Riley’s eyes narrowed and immediately his demeanor changed. He stiffened where he stood beside Niro. I see some things haven’t changed. Immediately he withdrew from Reva’s thoughts.

“Problem Riley?” Niro asked, then nodded to Riley’s silent response. He turned finally to Leela, who had stood there silent. He gave her a mental nudge, freeing her to speak once more. “Shall we get on with it? We have some things to clear up it seems.”

Leela, finally free to speak, stepped over to join her crew, “Indeed, we do. First things first, Vic, beam them off my ship - except Riley.”

“Yes ma’am,” Vic answered with a smile. He tapped his console and in an instant, Suresh and Niro were transported back to their ship, leaving Riley standing on the bridge. He turned to face Leela, his expression stormy.

Reva moved to her station and quickly set up the rotating frequency shields. “Those should hold them out; they’re good enough for the Borg. Now, Riley? How about some help getting us home? We’ll beam you back before we leave.”

Riley crossed his arms as he looked at Reva. I know he is listening in. He glanced at Seren, not happily, then reached out to include Leela in the conversation. It can be done but we’ll need the Korenna’s power. I can convince them to help but there’s a condition.

Reva’s brow furrowed as she looked at Seren, curious why he was riling up Riley. “So what if he’s listening in? He’s Betazoid; he does that. What’s the condition?”

Two actually. You let Suresh in to see Six and he isn’t involved, since you’ll have to work with us Reva.

“What did I do?” Seren demanded.

Seriously, what did he do? Reva gave Riley an intense look. “Leela, Suresh: can he come back to see Six?”

Leela hesitated, aware there were Betazoid conversations happening around her. “We’ll need to ask Six. This isn’t her Suresh. For all we know, he wants some sort of revenge on her.”

“Six is still unconscious last I heard,” Vic reported. “Seren can go with him since Riley doesn’t want him around. I sure as hell won’t go anywhere with that Suresh. He’d like nothing better than to remove me from whatever universe we’re in.”

Reva shook her head. “I’m going to okay a visit from Suresh for Six, since she can’t. She’s my best friend; I think I can speak for her here. Carter, how about you and Seren watch that little meeting. Riley and I will start working on the formulas to get us where we need to be.”

Frowning, Leela sighed. She had to admit that Reva had logic going for her. “Fine. Seren, Vic?”

“N’Riss and I will man the bridge and keep an eye on the Kohanna. Do you need to contact them before you start Riley?” Vic asked.

Riley shook his head. I already have.

“Shoulda known,” Vic mumbled. “Leela, alright to lower shields long enough to transport Suresh over?”

She nodded. “Do it; go on, you two,” she said to Riley and Reva.

Reva reached out to take Riley’s hand, unthinkingly thinking of him as her Riley. “Engineering’s consoles will be best for this.”

Riley snatched his hand away from her, then followed her into the lift. Once the doors were closed, Vic spoke.

“You two get to Sickbay and I’ll transport Suresh directly there. Better to avoid any more conflicts don’t you think?”

“Yes,” Leela nodded. “Seren?” She stepped to the lift, waiting till it was back from its trip to engineering.

Once they were all gone, Vic opened a channel on the comm. “Marie, report to engineering. Vic out.”
