Freeing Iggy

Mission: Sections of the Delta Quadrant
After being rescued from the Admiral's terrible driving, Iggy had been passed, still in her safety box, from Ganesh to Ensign Malloy to Petty Officer Hogg to Lieutenant Darwin and, finally, to Oralia herself.
Oralia, dressed casually as she'd already said she was taking the rest of the day off, had the safety box on her desk in her office. She and Darwin were bent over slightly, looking into the box.
"How'd she do that, anyway?" Darwin asked.
"Oh, sure, like I know. I just live with a talking spider, I don't actually know anything about them," Oralia answered back.
From inside the box, Iggy cried, Would you please just get me out!
Snorting with laughter, Oz said, "Sure, sure, Iggster. Hang on...." She rummaged in a drawer and retrieved a pair of scissors. When she went to poke them into the box, however, Iggy screamed.
Watch what you are doing with those! Those are sharp!
"Well... Iggy... you're the one who bound yourself up like that," Oz pointed out.
"Hang on, is the silk so strong we can't just reach in and pull her out?"
Oralia looked up at Darwin then, standing back slightly, gestured at the box. "Go ahead, see how you like having spider webs on your hands."
Frowning, Darwin looked into the box again. He couldn't blame any of the Security underlings for not trying to free Iggy sooner. The spider had woven herself into a protective pouch - too protective of a pouch. She was now stuck in her own webbing. With her fangs facing the open end of the box, she was a scary sight. Dismissing his case of nerves, Darwin reached in, breaking the silk strands with his hands. Oralia was right: the spider silk felt... awful. Sticky, stringy, ...just wrong on so many levels. He wanted to yank his hands back out, but now it was a matter of pride.
But Oralia could read Darwin's face. "See? Nasty, isn't it?"
"Yeah, but...," there was a ripping sound from inside the box and Iggy....
Do not squeeze the spider so hard!
"Okay, okay," he muttered, even as he ripped something else in the box. "I think she's free...."
Am not.
"...from the walls of the box." To prove his point, he pulled out a silk-encased Iggy.
"Commander," a CPO came to the open door of Oralia's office and caught her attention. "Doctor Harding sent word that a new host has been chosen for the Bren symbiont."
"Oh," she nodded. "Good, we'll need to assign someone to the host. Hopefully the symbiont will give him... her?"
"Him, an Ensign Leyva."
"...Him some of Natalia's memories and we can get some answers." She was looking over the Iggy package carefully before taking her first cut with the scissors.
"Lieutenant Tigan has been assigned to train the new host," the CPO added, watching Oz's handiwork with the scissors.
"Norval? Oh." She pulled away a section of silk and Iggy stretched her legs. "Then assign Eric Edwards to Ensign Leyva. Seems like those three might need to be around each other quite a bit in the next few weeks."
"Yes, Ma'am," the CPO stayed where he was then hesitantly asked, "Does she do that often?"
"Hmm?" Oz looked up at the CPO and nearly nicked one of Iggy's legs with the scissors.
Hey! Watch it!
"Oh, the silk? No. The Admiral's shuttle malfunctioned and she... panicked."
He was flying like a crazy man! Iggy interjected. Just crazy! I was unsure which way was up or down or left or right! Horrible.
"Now you're free, Iggy," Oralia smiled as the spider shook herself much like a dog would. Both she and Darwin had silk stuck to them; silk was adhered to her desk, her dress... "And now I'm off for the day, Lieutenant Darwin. Please make sure that we get a full report on the shuttle incident and take Iggy to Chance Conradi's, please." So saying, she breezed out of her office, out of the Main Security offices and towards the rest of her day - in which she intended to have only one thing: Jackson Banning V.
