New Rank Pip

I'm glad that I was able to settle into Starbase 900 so well thus far; my professional meeting actually went better than expected. I didn't believe that they'd warm up to me so quickly, because you usually don't have a meeting with the brass like that when, like, you're just being positioned in as the chief support craft pilot.

I guess I'm far too old to be sent down to the principal's office, at least by my species' standards!

You know what the roughest part about becoming a warrant officer has been so far, though...it's being called sir! I can't go around and tell people that I work for a living anymore when they say that, even though, well, I still work for a living!

I'm glad to have made it though. Since I came up through a little bit of the petty officer ranks I was initially afraid that I might not fit in with some of the others around here with academy experience, but everyone actually seems pretty chill.

I've been thinking of visiting a few of the restaurants around here once I get totally settled in. I figure I should probably give each one of the individual places a try while I still have the opportunity to do so.

I got plenty of work to do in my department now, too. I was just talking to Crewman T'ah and he said he didn't really envy me with having to go through each and every single support craft assigned to Starfleet on the station over the next week or so. I have no idea what he was talking about; who doesn't want the opportunity to look at that kind of material?

In fact I was a little disappointed to learn that there actually is a billet here for the position of shuttlebay manager, which means that these quarterly inspections probably won't be mine to take care of in the future which totally blows!

I'd gladly take the job on if I weren't already a specialist, though I guess if I did I wouldn't get the chance to try some of the new stuff that might come in someday. Oh well, I was told to prepare to fly around some of the brass so that should keep me occupied for the time being. I'll finish the reports on the condition of the support craft and have it sent over to the chief of Flight Control.

I was supposed to take the chain of command to heart after all.
