The Mistress

Posted on Sun Jul 12th, 2015 @ 12:11pm by Commander Patrick Leroy & Lieutenant Commander Kh'ali

Mission: Further Challenges
Location: Qo'noS

The niceties done after the landing, Kalim had led them right to the Chancellor’s House to get some refreshment and to meet Martok himself.

Once there everyone of them had an apartment assigned for their stay and the spouses were brought first to Martok’s presence.

“Welcome to my house.”

Martok greeted the guests gathered before him standing from his seat. Slowly he stepped closer to the woman who held a baby in her arms. He put his hands on her shoulders regarding her with affection.

“Kh’ali, daughter of Torin… Welcome back. It’s been a long time. And you bring good news with you I see.” He added watching the baby she held in her arms.

She smiled up at Martok and nodded. “It has been far too long, but the frontier has kept me busy.” She looked down at the baby a moment, then returned her attention to Martok. “D’Veidh,” she answered. “A new warrior for the family.”

“I see.” Martok said pleased. and put his finger close to D’Veidh who took it with his tiny hand trying to push it away at the same time giving in to a low wail of restlessness. “Ah… He already fights. This is a good sign.” Martok nodded.

“And you must be Patr’ek. Er… Patrick.” He said turning to Leroy fumbling a little on his Klingon accent. “It is a great honor to become part of the household. Klingon tradition is heavy but I’m sure your shoulders will be able to bear the burden.” He ended jokingly landing a hand on his shoulder.

“I’ll do my best to be up to the expectations.” Patrick responded with conviction.

“I’m sure you will. For the prize is quite worth his while.” Martok replied with a slight grin casting a sidelong glance at Kh’ali.

“And what we do have here?” He continued as he proceeded to the others who were standing a few steps back from Kh’ali and Patrick. “Kalim of course. Ready to uphold his sister as it should be.”

“With my honor and my life.” Kalim replied with typical Klingon ardor.

Martok nodded again, satisfied “Well this is a great occasion indeed. Sirella will be here soon to meet the spouses and make clear the steps that they have to undertake…”

“You’ve spoken enough, Martok.” a female voice came from down the hall. “The only thing you’ll be able to do is get them more confused. This is my field. So step aside.”

All turned to have a look at the newcomer just to see a stately Klingon woman approaching haughtily till she stopped in front of them.

“Ah! Sirella… I was…” Martok started to say.

“You were talking out of turn, as usual.” Sirella cut him short “Moreover, each time I see you I find you in worse shape than before.”

“Well… As you say Sirella, age is taking its heavy toll on me very quickly.” Martok responded humbly “But we have our honored guests here waiting to undertake their due wedding.”

“I see…” Sirella replied taking a step closer to Kh’ali and Patrick whom she looked down upon “You’re the human aren’t you?”

“His name’s Patrick.” Martok intervened in a low voice gaining a scolding glance from Sirella.

Patrick stood silent as the Mistress returned to look him over. “It is a great exception in tradition to accept a non-Klingon in a formal wedding on Qo’noS. A thing that should fill you with pride and honor. Being this is an uncommon case, where you’re about to wed a member of the Chancellor’s House, I deem it fit to have you undergo Kal'Hyah. The spiritual journey of the warrior. If you’ll be able to get through it you will be deemed worthy to marry Kh’ali the daughter of Torin.”

“As I’ve said I’ll do my best… Mistress.” Patrick replied sullenly.

She regarded him a moment more then, with a sniff, Sirella turned her attention to Kh’ali stepping close to her and the baby.

“A pleasure to meet you.” Patrick muttered garnering a reproachful look from Kh’ali.

“Kh’ali.” Sirella addressed her “I hope your voyage here has been good. For your trials are about to begin…”

“Uneventful, yes, Mistress Sirella,” she answered. “Somewhat surprising, but then perhaps the surprises will soon appear.” Her voice was low as she spoke to Sirella.

“What kind of surprises?” Sirella asked perking an eyebrow.

“We should discuss that once the rest have settled in and D’Veidh is sleeping, if that is acceptable?” Kh’ali asked.

“As you wish. Later I will instruct you about your tasks as a bride. While Martok will explain to your groom the ways of Kal'Hyah. It goes without saying that from this moment on you cannot see each other again until the trials are fulfilled.”

“Understood.” Kh’ali nodded. She turned to Patrick and leaned in to kiss his cheek. Then she whispered in his ear, “watch your temper and you’ll be fine.”

Patrick nodded and returned the kiss “I’ll be careful.” he said with a faint smile.

“Do you have friends that can help you in your journey?” Sirella asked addressing Patrick .

“I have no friends on Qo’noS. I’ve only named my Tawi’Yan.” Patrick replied in a half-voice.

“Well perhaps he’ll be glad to take on the journey with you.” Sirella nodded.

“I will accompany him too.”

All turned to watch Kalim stepping closer to land his hand on Patrick’s shoulder “No warrior should go to the Kal'Hyah without his steadfast friends.”

“So We have a generous offer here.” Sirella said casting a look to the people assembled “It’s settled then.”

“So be it. Thank you Kalim.” She rested her hand on her brother’s arm a moment, then with a nod to Patrick, she turned and followed Sirella from the room.
