Mission: Further Challenges
Location: Somewhere In The Delta Quadrant

* Somewhere In The Delta Quadrant *

Brother Antonio stood before a large picture window that looked out on an empty stretch of space. No planets were visible, lending a chill to the view that still brought a shiver, even after all this time. Behind him a door slid open with a soft hiss, but he did not turn to look.

“Brother Spencer. Has Adrian returned?”

"No. We cannot reach him, either. It is possible he was discovered." The tall man stepped up, even with Antonio, looking out the window as he was. "Shall we send another Brother to complete his task?"

Antonio sighed and shook his head. “Not at the moment. If Adrian has been found out, the target will be unapproachable unless we want to lose another.” He reached out, pressing his hand flat against the window. “It is ironic, is it not? That millennia of secrecy and care might all be undone because a young Borg rescue was given some busy work?”

"Hmm. We could go back, before she is even set that task and remove her. With the sentiment against Borg in the Delta Quadrant, it could be made to look like a strike against a Borg."

“We may have to do so, as a last resort. Or simply return to the New Providence Colony and kill her before she was assimilated.” Antonio shrugged. “What about her replacement?”

"He's been dealt with." Spencer frowned. "We have an issue there, which will only grow as we take the others involved. Certain elements of our Brotherhood refuse to participate in killing. They want him simply... relocated."

That revelation finally caused Antonio to turn and face Spencer. “I see. And what would they do with him once relocated? Do they not think he would do whatever was necessary to return home? Perhaps those brothers have been sequestered too long. They forget the power of the heart, Spencer.”

"We could wipe his memory. Transplant him somewhere in history, when their technology is not what it is today," Spencer said. "I favor the easy thing: kill him. He's unnecessary."

“Not until we know how much he has discovered,” Antonio answered. “He will also tell us how much the Borg knows, as well as anyone else.” He fell silent as an idea occurred to him and he smiled. “There is another option, one that will solve both problems.”

Spencer sighed. He'd heard all sorts of options already. "And what would that be?"

“We will make use of him.” He noticed the faint annoyance in Spencer. “Bear with me for a moment. This officer will be sought after by those on his station, yes? They will not rest until he is found, so let them find him. Drop him somewhere within a few days of the station. But…” Antonio held up his hand. “Before we do, remove his memories of this place only. Leave the information he discovered so that when he is scanned by them, he will appear normal. Have Andor see him. He will implant the command to remove the Borg and the doctor. It is likely he will be caught and dealt with by this Federation for his crimes, thus solving our problems.”

Spencer smiled. Here was an option he could get behind; it was deliciously evil. "I'll have him taken to Andor immediately. Anything else we should have him do before the Federation neutralizes him?"

Antonio chuckled. “If you really want to wrap it up cleanly, have him be so overcome with remorse that he turns himself in. He seems to be an intelligent fellow, I’m sure he’ll come up with some creative way to fulfill the commands. Where you drop him is up to you, as long as he can be somewhat easily found with no memory of how he got there.”

"I will do some research on that, while Andor does his work." Spencer smiled, liking this plan more and more. "Excuse me, Antonio, I have work to do." He left, nearly whistling a jaunty tune.

In the silence that followed Spencer’s departure, Antonio turned back to the window and joined his hands behind his back. He stood unmoving for a few minutes as he considered their situation. Adrian was nearing the twelve hours missing mark. Two hours to go and he knew that when that time hit, Adrian would do as he had been ordered to do.

In two hours, unless they found him, Adrian would be dead.
