New Horizons

Posted on Sun Jun 26th, 2011 @ 11:03am by Lieutenant Commander Robin Swift M.D., PhD

Robin moved about his office feeling very flustered. Delicate bric a brac nestled securely in his hands. Pausing in the center of his new office his eyes scanned the bookcases that lined the walls of the room. The doors swooshed open allowing his assistant Drusilla to enter, she hesitated a brief moment to take in his current state. "Flummoxed" she said. He looked up into her hazel eyes and said "What" he had barely just registered her sudden presence. She smiled and reached for the porcelain statuette that he held and released into her careful hands. "Flummoxed." She repeated. "That's how I would describe your current state. Robin shook his head and walked to his desk. "So is that your official diagnoses DOCTOR?" he teased the young lieutenant. Dru walked over to a nearby hutch and opened the glass doors to place the item safely inside as she replied. "You'll get used to the new place soon Doctor. I promise she added with another of her endearing smiles.

Dr Swift shook his head as he sat down at his desk. "I was just getting settled into our last 'new place" then we were all uprooted and dumped on to yet another hunk of space debris adrift in space. He looked up at her as she sighed then added. "Don't worry my 'space concerns will remain just between you, me and my cat. I will be at the top of my game once again when we start seeing patients."

Dru finished setting up his afternoon tea then headed out to her office and mumbled as she left. "There's a whole bunch of new people to get to know her Doc. Perhaps you can find someone new to add to your 'inner circle' the she glanced subtly to a picture of Robin's lost love on his desk and he knew what she was referring to. It was her delicate way of saying it was time the doc took his own advice and meet new people and perhaps start dating again. It had been nearly three years since the accident and he knew in his mind it was time to move on but his heart was telling him other wise.
